The Woman And The Orb – Chapter 1

A few days before the disaster.

King Terrance says nervously, “Elizabeth, what are we going to do for Genevieve’s birthday. She is turning 16.”

“Well, I don’t know. It’s her 16th birthday, what would a 16 year old want?” Queen Elizabeth says with disappointment.

“We could give her the latest dress in Mrs. Marty’s Fashion Shop.” King Terrance says with delight. “She would love it.”

“I agree.” Queen Elizabeth says happily. “The dress she will receive must be extravagant!”

Day of “The Disaster”

Screaming. Shouting. Running. Hiding. A women’s evil laughter.

“What do you think of me now? Do you think I am still weak?!” Miranda says with malice.

“You are weaker than ever. You still have not learned your lesson, have you? I have told you before, love is more powerful than hate.” King Terrance says struggling to stay strong.

“Never, you monster. You will never understand, will you?” Miranda screeches at the top of her lungs.

The look of how my father gets drained of his life force will never leave me alone.

“Father!” Jenavive screams despairingly. “No!”

“Terrance! No, my beloved!” Queen Elizabeth says with hate, fear, and remorse.

Queen Elizabeth is boiling red. No wait, purple? She starts transforming into some kind of creature. It takes a second for Jenavive to realize what she is looking at, she is looking at the last dragon.

In a low voice, Queen Elizabeth turning to Princess Genevieve, “Go, run!” she pleads.

Princess Genevieve runs with fear and escapes out of the secret hatch.

She runs through the forest when she hears a terrible scream.

She sees the dragon fall down into the forest just a few feet ahead of her. She runs to her mother.

Queen Elizabeth says exhaustedly, “Leave me.”

Princess Genevieve says in defiance, “No! I am not leaving you mother! And besides we can take refuge in the forest for now.”

5 Months Later

“Darling, soup is ready!” Elizabeth calls for Genevieve.

“Coming mother!” Genevieve says, running towards the table. After she sits down, “Mother, aren’t you tired of having soup everyday. We should build a farm and we could make steak. We could even expand our range of crops for salads.” Says Genevieve hopefully.

“If you’d like, darling.” Her mother says tiredly.

Genevieve runs out into the forest with an axe to chop down trees for wood. She starts chopping one down and then she hears a twig snap. She looked over in the direction it came from and she saw an adorable white puppy with light blue eyes. She left the wood temporarily and brought the puppy home. She could feel the softness of its white fur when she cuddled it tightly on the short trip home. When she arrived, she found her mother laying on her straw bed. She was weaving another blanket.

Genevieve thought, “She has been doing that a lot recently. We already of plenty of blankets. Is she okay.” She did not want to be rude so she didn’t say anything. She chose to tell her mother about the puppy in the morning when her mother was more awake.

It was morning now so Genevieve went back outside to get the wood. She left the puppy in her room with water and some unseasoned chicken. She did not want the dog to get hurt just in case it had health issues.

She made it to the forest and then she saw the wood she left on the ground last evening. She brought it back to the house and she stumbled upon a house that clearly wasn’t hers.

She sat the wood down gently, trying not to make any noise. She peeked through the window and she saw a young lady with a purple cloak and a black hat. She had green nails and she wore black heeled boots.

Genevieve thought to herself, “She looks about my age so maybe she will be nice.”

She moved over to the door and knocked lightly on it. She heard footsteps coming towards the door. Then the young lady opened the door. She saw Genevieve and smiled. The lady asked, “Would you care to come in?” Genevieve wanted to be polite so she entered the small home. The lady told Genevieve to sit while she mad 2 cups of tea. The young lady introduced herself, “Hello, my name is Lily. I am the village brewer.” Genevieve was shocked by two things. She had no idea there was a village nearby and she just sat down in a witches house for a cup of tea! Lily noticed Genevieve looked a little frightened so she tried to comfort her by calmly saying, “I won’t hurt you.” Genevieve was still frightened but relaxed a little. “Sorry, what was your name again?” Lily said calmly. “Genevieve. My name is Genevieve.”

“That is a wonderful name.” Lily said with delight.

She also asked if Genevieve had a home.

“Yes, I do. I live with my mother but recently she has not been feeling too well. She turned into a dragon when my father died a few months prior to this moment.” Genevieve replied.

“I actually might be able to help her feel better. I have a couple potions that would work.” Lily said proudly.

Genevieve and Lily exited the house and Genevieve picked up the wood. She led Lily to her house at around nightfall. Before they left the home, Genevieve noticed that Lily grabbed two bottles. One with a hot pink color liquid inside. And one with a bright metallic purple inside. Genevieve open the door and realized her puppy must have escaped because it was outside of her room in the kitchen. She asked Lily if the puppy was a girl or a boy and after lily examined the puppy, she told Genevieve it was a girl. She made a suggestion for a name, Kara. Genevieve loved the name.

She brought Lily and Kara to her mother. Her mother is shocked to see a puppy licking her face. Genevieve picks the puppy up off of her. Lily kneels next to Elizabeth and gives her the hot pink potion and the bright metallic purple potion. Genevieve notices that her mother feels better. Lily told her she would be back to her normal self within a day or two.
