Recently, I have had an interest in the historic shark, the Megalodon. So, I wanted to share some facts that I learned with the people that read my blog.
I wanted to start out with what the Megalodon’s diet is. The Megalodon eats whales and other big animals. They only eat animals that are big otherwise the Megalodon would probably not last long due to the fact of eating so many smaller things. The average Megalodon would have to eat hundreds of tiny creatures in order to get a satisfied stomach.
This goes for other sharks as well as the Megalodon. The reason that shark’s skin is rough is that it actually is not skin. Sharks are covered in dermal denticles which are similar to fish scales but their size is microscopic.
The Megalodon is not only the largest shark to have ever swim in the ocean, but one of the largest fish ever.
As you can probably tell by my last fact, the Magalodon is huge. It can grow up to be 60 ft. long or possibly even longer.
The Megalodon went extinct about 2.5 million years ago.

Very interesting information! I can’t imagine how much a fish that big would weigh. I wonder why they went extinct? Maybe they couldn’t get enough food or maybe the ocean temperatures changed.

I don’t know for sure how much the average Megalodon would weigh but I am sure it is a lot. According to my sources, they were still living when the ice age happened. Their diet was only of big animals like whales which lived in warmer climates, so they moved away from the area where the Megalodons were. I believe that the Megalodons began to eat each other, resulting to their extinction about 2.6 million years ago.
